Premed Award 2204 (For Premed Students)
PreMed Award is a one-time scholarship for medical school aspirants or students who are on the pre-med track. The award is dedicated to extraordinary students who are passionate about medical sciences in general and are committed to pursuing a career to become a physician.
Eligibility
Premed students or medical school aspirants who are preparing to apply for medical schools to earn their medical degree (MD) and possess strong academic credentials, participate in a variety of extracurricular activities and volunteering, and who have the passion and commitment to excel in the field of medicine, research, teaching, or clinical practice and are thus destined to make a monumental difference in the field of medicine are eligible to apply.
- At least an undergraduate degree or current undergraduate students in their senior year are eligible to apply
- Those who hold graduate degrees (MS, Ph.D.) or current graduate students (MS, Ph.D.) are strongly encouraged to apply
- Students should be able to demonstrate that they are on the premed track by having already completed or are planning to do coursework in the following subjects: (though the following coursework is not a formal requirement for the scholarship)
*The above coursework is only a general guideline indicating the knowledge base of a successful pre-med student for this award. It is not a formal requirement for the award. We will also consider applicants with different backgrounds. However, for students with the above background, it will be easier to demonstrate that they are committed to becoming a physician since these are the coursework requirements of most of the US medical schools. Above all, the passion for serving fellow human beings is definitely required.
Competition And Selection
The award committee will evaluate the applications comprehensively and will look for strong academic records as well as demonstrated participation in extracurricular activities. Students should have demonstrated success in both academic and non-academic fields. More specifically these can be demonstrated through:
- Academic Records (Transcripts)
- Statement of Purpose
- Motivation for becoming a physician
- How you plan to contribute to society by going to medical school
- Life experiences: Who are you? What’s your story?
- Extracurricular activities such as research, community service, and clinical experience
- Volunteer activities and how many hours in each
- Professional experiences such as any relevant clinical experiences, and shadowing
- Employments
- Passions and hobbies
Timeline And Award
The PreMed award application will open on August 5, 2024. The deadline to apply will be September 5, 2024, through the MyFMD online application system. Early submission of the application is encouraged. Successful applicants will be notified through email.

The application is online, and all materials will need to be submitted online.
Once the application opens on August 5, 2024, please register with the MyFMD account and apply through the online application system.
Along with the online application, please submit the following documents:
- Transcripts (Unofficial at the time of application submission)
- Selected candidates may be required to submit official transcripts if requested
- Statement of Purpose
- Briefly describe your motivation for becoming a physician
- How you plan to serve humanity by going to the medical school
- Life experiences: Who are you? What’s your story?
- MCAT Scores (Optional, if available)
